Chapter 7 of 8 — The Foundation Playbook

Steward the Numbers

Money in a business is not just fuel — it is testimony. Clean books, honest pricing, and disciplined cash flow let you keep promises to customers, employees, and your own family.

“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?”Luke 14:28

The Lesson

1

You are a steward, not an owner

The business, the revenue, and the increase are entrusted to you. Stewards ask different questions: not “what can I get away with?” but “what does faithfulness require here?”

2

Profit is permission to keep serving

Profit is not greed — it is the margin that lets you pay people well, survive slow seasons, and give generously. A business that loses money every month cannot bless anyone for long.

3

Open simple books this week

You do not need complicated software to start. One account for the business, one weekly habit of reviewing what came in and what went out. Clarity compounds.

Put It Into Practice

Do these three before the next chapter.

  • Open a separate business bank account if you have not — this week.

  • Set a recurring 30-minute weekly appointment with your own numbers.

  • Decide now what percentage of profit you will give — before the profit arrives.

Bring It to the Table

Does the way your business handles money match what you say you believe?
