Chapter 5 of 8 — The Foundation Playbook

Learn It

Every mistake you are about to make, someone at the table has already made. Learning is the discipline of letting other people's experience pay your tuition.

“Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.”Proverbs 1:5

The Lesson

1

Learn from people, not just content

A podcast cannot ask you a follow-up question. A mentor can. Real learning happens in conversation — when someone who has done it looks at your situation, not the general case.

2

Ask specific questions

“How did you grow?” gets a speech. “How did you price your first three jobs?” gets an answer. The quality of your learning is set by the quality of your questions.

3

Stay teachable after you are successful

The most dangerous learner is the owner who used to be hungry. Revenues rise, curiosity falls, and the business quietly calcifies. Teachability is a practice, not a phase.

Put It Into Practice

Do these three before the next chapter.

  • Write three specific questions about your current challenge before the next meeting.

  • Pick one book from the Resources page and read one chapter this week.

  • Ask one mentor in the directory for twenty minutes — with your questions written down first.

Bring It to the Table

When did someone last change your mind about your business — and if you cannot remember, what does that tell you?
